Our mission.

By reducing stray pet populations through sterilization, adoption, fostering, and shelter partnerships, we aim to strengthen underserved, overpopulated pet communities in the Midwest by providing services and resources to people and unwanted animals within those communities.

Our origin.

In 2017, our founder Kristen fostered three mangy puppies from a reservation. A few weeks later, at an adoption event, she spotted their mother — a heartbroken dog named Shasta. Within minutes, the decision was made.

Shasta had been living outside, raising six puppies on an old mattress. That moment became impossible to forget — and impossible to ignore.

From the Founder

"I couldn't believe how little help there was for animals in these areas. I felt a deep pull to do something."

That moment was the beginning of Rescue Network. In late 2019, the rescue was officially born. Today we partner with every reservation in South Dakota and several in North Dakota, supporting tribal communities and the animals who depend on them.
